Please note that surgery times may vary slightly depending on circumstances. Surgeries are not held on Saturday mornings or public holidays. Occasionally all GP surgeries in the district close for staff training and education. On these afternoons emergency cover is provided by the local NHS Area Team, and you may telephone the out-of-hours service on 111.

GP Extended Hours

The Extended Access Service is an extension of your usual primary care practice. It is not a walk-in service – you need to make an appointment.

The Extended Access Service is located at Grove Park Court in Harrogate, Ripon Community Hospital in Ripon, and Beech House Surgery in Knaresborough. You can get appointments here up to 8pm weekdays, as well as appointments on Saturdays and Sundays. Information about the service is available here or contact reception.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or Call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Local Walk in Centre

The nearest NHS walk in centre is located in the centre of York. The address is:

York NHS Walk-in Centre, 31 Monkgate, York, YO31 7WA. Telephone 01904 674557.

The centre is open from 7am to 10pm daily.

How to Obtain Medications in an Emergency

In normal surgery hours, please contact the surgery. Out of hours, please contact the OOH doctor’s service, the on-call pharmacist, or local NHS walk-in centre. When away from home, a local GP practice will be able to help. Pharmacists are able to dispense some medications without a prescription but will need your GP practice details.
