Access your medical records

How to Get Your GP Record

Your GP record includes details like:

  • Any conditions or allergies you have
  • Any medications you're taking

Starting from November 2022, most patients automatically have access to more information in their GP records, such as letters, test results, and appointment notes. Some people may also be able to see information added to their GP record before this date.

You can also allow someone you trust to access your GP record.

The two main ways to get your GP record:

1. Using Your NHS Account

You can access your GP record by logging into your NHS account through the NHS app or the NHS website. To do this, you need to:

  • Register for online services and verify your identity when creating an account.
  • Ask your GP surgery for online access to your full record. Otherwise, you will only be able to see your medicines and allergies.

To access your GP record:

2. By Speaking to Your GP Surgery

You can also ask for a copy of your GP record directly at your GP surgery.
